I'm now working on NAM full-time.

When I started NAM in 2018, the project was meant as a sort of "crossword puzzle" challenge for myself. I'd been picking up experience in machine learning and I wanted to see if I could successfully solve this application problem that was near and dear to me as an electric guitarist.

What I didn't expect is how well the solution I came up with worked, and it's been an extremely rewarding journey as the all of you discovered the project on my sleepy corner of the internet. Fast forward to today, and I've gotten to meet and speak with all sorts of people from across the globe--producers, artists, industry professionals, as well as musicians, hobbyists, and enthusiasts not unlike myself.

The industry feels that NAM has a large potential as a technology to power new products so that musicians can achieve their potential as artists. It's an honor to be able to help support this, but I've been highly constrained for bandwidth with my day job. Still, I've observed the level of interest slowly growing, year over year. A pivotal moment came during the NAMM show at the beginning of this year when I realized that, after only a fraction of the show, I'd found enough things to do that I'd be busy for the next year. "That's it--I'm full!"

I've made the decision to work full-time as a freelance scientist and engineer. This will give me the bandwidth to give NAM more of the support that it could use to properly realize its potential, and finally say "Yes!" to many folks who have wanted to build with NAM, but have wanted my help to do so.

I hope this excites you all as much as it does me. If you are excited for this, then there are three ways you can support me.

The first is that, if you're a builder and want to work together, then please get in touch with me--let's figure something out.

The second is that, if you're a musician who's been able to do things you never could have without NAM, please look at the awesome products from everyone listed on https://www.neuralampmodeler.com/ and make a purchase! This proves to them that they're headed in the right direction when they build with NAM.

Finally, I am working on a way to accept your direct support so that I can devote time to maintaining NAM's open-source code. Open-source is, paradoxically, a unique enabler of new products, but a notoriously-thankless job that struggles to gather the support it needs to serve the use it provides. My desire is to make the open-source code and its documentation as good as possible for builders, and being able to devote time digging into Issues and feature requests, polishing documentation, and publishing tutorials is how that happens. I need your help to be able to do that. More on this soon.

I want to thank everyone again for the support you've given NAM over the past few years. Getting to share this with the world has been a once-in-a-lifetime privilege, and I'm looking forward to making the most of this opportunity for us all.

Now, let's build!
